Biography:

Giulia Pizzolongo started to study the guitar at the age of eleven at the "J.Tomadini" Conservatory of Udine under the insturuction of Maestro Francesco Romano. In 2002 Pizzolongo took up her studies with Maestro Giampaolo Bandini at the Accademy of High Musical Perfection at the Cinghio theatre in Parma and under whose guidance she graduated brilliantly from the Consevatory of Fermo in 2004. Pizzolongo attended numerous courses of specialization, participating in concerts organised for the brightest students in events such as The International Guitar Festival of Fermo and Ascoli Piceno, The International Meeting of Young Musicians in Piediluco (TR), summer courses of High Specialization of Bertinoro (FC), Tignale (BS) and Portogruaro (VE). She attended masterclasses of Maestros Pavel Steidl, Eduardo Isaac, Carlo Marchione, Bosko Radojkovic and Silfredo Perez in the occasion of the Nicolò Paganini International Guitar Festivals held in Parma. In 2005 she attended a specialization course at the Arts Academy of Rome. As a soloist, she won the first prize in the competition Nuovi Orizzonti 2004 of Arezzo and, in the same year, obtained the "Enea Armeni" scholarship in the XII edition of the International Meeting of Young Musicians in Piediluco. She also held concerts in important music events including "Domeniche in Musica" of the Casa della Musica in Parma, "Chitarre in Concerto" of Casalecchio di Reno (BO), "Festival di Musica da Camera" of Cividale del Friuli (UD), "Pomeriggi Musicali" of Salò (BS) and "Careggi in Musica" of Florence. Pizzolongo is also a member of the group Trio Kalè (Daisy Togni on flute and Hilary Sdrigotti on clarinet), which won second prize in the Enrico Mercatali European Guitar Competition of Gorizia and which regularly collaborates with the soprano Claudia Grimaz. This collaboration has resulted in numerous public performances of significant critical and popular success. Pizzolongo is also part of the contemporary music group Utopic Blok (flute, oboe, clarinet, harp, guitar, piano and reciting voice) with whom she became the first Italian to perform the musical fairytale Tre Alberi, Tre Figli (Three Trees, Three Sons) by the Finnish composer Olli Mustonen (1967). In the spring of 2008 She graduated with full honours in Musical Interpretation and Composition from the “R.Franci” Musical Institute of Siena and in 2011 she graduated brilliantly from the Conservatory of Udine in Instrumental Teaching. After which she became qualified to teach her instrument in state schools specializing in music. Since 2009 she has collaborated with the L.Cherubini Youth Orchestra, founded and directed by Maestro Riccardo Muti. With this formation she has performed "Rhapsody in Blue" by G.Gershwin directed by Maestro John Axelrod and "Don Pasquale" by G.Donizzetti under the direction of Muti. Performances of the latter were given at the Teatro Sociale of Como, Le Forum of Liège, the Philharmonica of Köln and the Théatre des Champs-Elysées of Paris.
